Hi! My name is Tashya. Welcome to Cake and Vegetables. Why in the world did I choose this name for my blog? These foods best represent the struggle I’ve had all my life around food and health. Healthy people eat vegetables. But they do not eat things like cake. I know this isn’t necessarily true, and yet there is some truth to it. It’s a balance and a struggle. It takes work and I can only do so many things well. Some people are able to create a balance that includes eating healthy foods that are delicious and pretty to look at. Delicious food is nonnegotiable here. I would surely fail if I believed I had to eat carrot and celery sticks all day.

I’m on a mission to figure out how to lead a healthy life without choking down every meal. I’m also trying to figure out how to be thrifty with time and money when it comes to leading this life. I can’t justify leaving Whole Foods Market with 10 items for $100. And as much as I’d actually like to, I also can’t spend all my time in the kitchen.

I’ll be posting useful websites, healthy (and tasty) recipes, links to other blogs I find helpful, trial and error, anecdotes, and anything else I find useful as I navigate toward living a healthier lifestyle. My goal is to use this as a place to organize my thoughts and chronicle my journey.
